French-Hungarian comparative constitutional law research group was established
Eszter Bodnár, habilitated associate professor of the Department of Constitutional Law, together with Eleonora Bottini, professor of the Université de Caen Normandie, won the Hubert Curien Balaton scholarship with their project "Comparative law in constitutional adjudication in France and Hungary".

The Hubert Curien-Balaton scholarship program was created in 1993 on the initiative of the Hungarian and French Ministries of Education and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to implement Hungarian-French bilateral projects in the field of social sciences.

The research group, consisting of French and Hungarian professors and doctoral students, investigates what factors influence the French Constitutional Council and the Hungarian Constitutional Court when they use the constitution, legislation or court decisions of other states to strengthen their arguments. The aim of the project is to help judges use comparative law and to increase the legitimacy of their decisions.

In the framework of the project, two workshops and two seminars for doctoral students will take place, and the results will be presented in a conference panel and publication in the summer of 2024.
