International Summer School in the Foundations of Democracy: American Law, Politics & Economy
The Center For American Studies and the American Law Society would like to invite you to take part in the 2nd International Summer School in the Foundations of Democracy: American Law, Politics & Economy, which will be held in Poznań on July 5-18, 2020 at the Faculty of Law & Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University.

The event is addressed mostly to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students of disciplines such as law, economics, social & political sciences as well as humanities, but also to alumni of these majors and all other interested persons.

The summer school’s agenda consists of four interdisciplinary courses:
(1) American Constitutional Law,
(2) Economics of the Free Society,
(3) U.S. Foreign Affairs and International Relations,
(4) American Social and Political Philosophy.

Classes will be conducted by Prof. Susanna Frederick Fischer (The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law), Dr. Karl-Friedrich Israel (Leipzig University Institute for Economic Policy), Prof. David Jones (University of Warsaw), Patrick Higgins, M.A. (University of Łódź) and Luke Darby Bartosik, LL.M. (President of CFAS).

The first course embraces the legal aspects of the constitutional and political system of the United States founded on the rule of law, government transparency, and respect for fundamental freedoms of all individuals. The second course explores the complex problems of the American market economy and the determinants of American economic development over the last 230 years. The third course will be devoted to the multifaceted role of the United States in the international arena both in historical and contemporary perspective. The fourth course will introduce the main social and political ideas that influenced the creation and functioning of the American polity and pervade the American society until this day.
