Workshop on the change of parties

Hungarian law has long recognized that not only specific rights and obligations, but contractual positions can also be transferred. It seemed, therefore, obvious that the new Civil Code that entered into force in 2014 should also contain rules on the transfer of contracts. The introduction of the new rules has led to unexpected uncertainties. The workshop will explore these issues in a comparative approach, hoping we can draw valuable lessons from the experiences of German, English and Italian law and the ideas behind the UNIDROIT rules on the transfer of contracts.
