Pál Sonnevend and István Varga are honorary doctors of the University of Göttingen
The Faculty of Law of the University of Göttingen awarded the honorary title to Pál Sonnevend and István Varga for their outstanding, internationally recognized work in the field of law.
The title of Doctor Honoris Causa was also awarded in recognition of their outstanding role in strengthening German and Hungarian higher education and scientific relations, and in particular in deepening and nurturing professional, scientific and educational ties between the two law faculties in Budapest and Göttingen.
At the ceremony, Professor Andreas Paulus, Dean of the University of Göttingen, praised the valuable relations with ELTE Faculty of Law, and especially thanked Professor Miklós Király, former Dean, for his work in promoting cooperation between the two faculties.
The awarding of honorary doctorates is a continuation of the long tradition of the University of Göttingen, and is a unique event in the sense that two Hungarian professors are receiving this exceptional honor at the same time.
