Polish–Hungarian conference on COVID-19
The international conference "Crisis, resilience, innovation and public administration - in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic (a Polish-Hungarian perspective)" was held on 25 October this year at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, and was attended by Polish and Hungarian academics.

Monday's conference had a legal and comparative character, concerned the analysis of legal solutions for the protection and administration of public health and was an attempt to assess their effectiveness during the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of the experience of Polish and Hungarian health administration bodies. – This is a very topical subject, all the more so because such an exchange of experience always influences, or at least should influence, the efficiency and quality of sanitary-epidemiological services in a difficult period of increased threat of infection – said the Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Arkadiusz Bereza, PhD, Professor of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University.

The event was attended by scientists from our Alma Mater and speakers representing the Faculty of Law from the friendly Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, the largest and oldest university in Hungary. – As an academic city, Lublin is always open to cooperation with other centres. This is not only a matter of academic debate, but also of searching in history for everything that unites our nations. Let me remind you that last year a monument was unveiled to commemorate the help given to the Hungarians by the inhabitants of our city in 1956, and among Lublin's partner cities there is Debrecen – emphasised the Vice-Rector and congratulated the conference organisers: Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration Jarosław Kostrubec, PhD, Professor of UMCS and Professor Istvan Hoffman, also an employee of our University.

After the presentation of papers and discussion, the Hungarian delegation together with the representatives of the scientific and organisational committee of the conference visited the voivode Lech Sprawka (Lubelskie Province Governor), who told the guests about the activities of the government administration from the practical side and its role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

On 26 October, in the Senate Hall, the Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Arkadiusz Bereza, PhD, Professor of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University met with conference participants. Researchers from Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest got acquainted with the history of our Alma Mater, the educational offer and the organisational structure of the university, as well as admiring a bird's eye view of Lublin from the 15th floor of the Rector's Office. At the end of the meeting, the Vice-Rector handed out commemorative gifts of UMCS. – I hope that this scientific cooperation, which has been going on for a couple of years now, will soon take on a formal framework in the form of an agreement between our friendly universities – concluded the Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Arkadiusz Bereza, PhD.
