My primary research areas are family law, comparative family law and European family law. I deal with the traditional family law issues as marriage, cohabitation, property relations of spouses and cohabitants, issues of maintenance, parental responsibilities and contact rights. I have research on the field of legal harmonization of European family law and harmonizing endeavours. I deal with the family law connected legal sources of the EU, such as the case law of the European Court of Justice. Further research areas are the children's rights, their enforcement, the child's right to be heard, the interpretation and practical enforcement of the child's best interests such as the connections of the family law and civil law.
