Budapest European Agora – „Europe in the World”
A pan-European civic laboratory bringing together 130 young Europeans engaged in the promotion of European citizenship and values on 6–10 June 2020.

What’s the Budapest European Agora?

The Budapest European Agora is a pan-European civic laboratory bringing together several prestigious partners engaged in the promotion of European citizenship and values. Each year 130 young Europeans meet in Budapest, with decision-makers and experts, to discuss the main challenges of the Continent through debates, workshops, and simulations. The Agora connects and empowers young Europeans, whatever their political orientations.

Who will be the guest speakers?

The upcoming edition features: Paolo Gentiloni, (Eu Commissioner and former PM of Italy), Pascal Lamy (former DG WTO and former EU Commissioner), Federica Mogherini (former EU Commission High Representative/Vice President), Amélie de Montchalin (French Minister for Europe) and more Commissioners, MEPs, representatives of national governments and International Organizations. Further international guests will complete the panel of the speakers, and their names will be revealed in the next few weeks on our social media channels: FacebookInstagramTwitter and Linkedin

What 's the topic of this year’s Agora?

This year the Agora will reflect upon Europe’s role in the world and it will also connect to the most salient topics of the upcoming Conference on the Future of Europe. Discussions will touch upon a wide array of fields: European values and democracy, international trade, digitalization, sustainability, enlargement, and security. Conducted entirely in English, the sessions are tailored by experts in citizens’ participation to make the Agora a civic laboratory where decision-makers, speakers and young participants with different backgrounds engage in a fruitful exercise of democracy.

Who can join the Budapest European Agora?

The Agora is open to anyone aged between 18 and 35 and willing to contribute to the discussions on the future of Europe: the Agora is an event for all citizens, regardless of their backgrounds. During last year’s edition, the event brought together participants from 25 countries and 21 fields of study/work.

Where does the Agora take place?

The Agora takes place in the European Youth Centre Budapest. A wonderful convention centre created to host youth activities.
