Main research areas
In the field of disputes of public interest we have to strike a fair balance between the freedom of expression and the protection of reputation of others. The research is focusing on the question how can the criminal courts take into consideration the constitutional standards and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.
In the Hungarian criminal law the definition of "bűnszervezet" has changed several times since 1997. The definition in 2001 aimed to harmonize with the ideas within the European Union. The former Supreme Court extended the definition. In answer to the case law the Parliament redefined the concept of "bűnszervezet" in 2019. Despite that, the Curia is reluctant to notice the change.
My research focuses on the extent of political freedom of expression, which crimes constitute the criminal law boundary. I examine crimes against public peace, the practice of the Constitutional Court, and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.
I examine life imprisonment and its human rights implications. The research encompasses criminal law regulations, the practice of the Constitutional Court, and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.
