Main research areas
István Benedekis an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Political Sciences, Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Law, and a Research Fellow at the Institute for Political Science, HUN-REN Centre for Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. His dissertation focused on the contemporary Hungarian political system, entitled The Theory and Practice of Populist Electoral Autocracy: Hungary in the Context of Central and Eastern Europe. His research interests include democracy and political theory; democratization, autocratization, hybrid regimes; populism; political polarization; the political system in Hungary; political systems in Central and Eastern Europe; party and party systems, Euroscepticism, and comparative politics.
